Activity 1: In the book 365 penguins a new penguin arrived on each day of the non leap year. How many penguins did the family have on the following days:
- The first day of March.
- The last day of June.

Objective: The goal of this lesson is to help young readers visualize all the places they can enjoy reading. They will have fun making up new rhymes like those used by Dr. Seuss.
Activity 1: Create a list of place rhymes.
- Read Green Eggs and Ham out loud several times so that students begin to get a feel for the rhyme structure.
- Brainstorm a list of places that people like to read.
- Have students think of rhyming words for the places they like to read. e.g. mommy’s lap rhymes with nap.
- Have the students try to create rhymes like Dr. Seuss’ with their rhyming words. e.g. I like to read on mommy’s lap, I like to read after my nap.
